Legacy, obsolete and out-of-production
Hard-to-Find & Obsolete Parts Sourcing
Find the part that is no longer easy to find — and tell you early if it cannot be found.
Overview
Finding hard-to-find aircraft parts
When a helicopter or business jet part is obsolete, discontinued or out of production, the usual search isn't enough. Vento Aviation sources hard-to-find and obsolete aircraft parts beyond standard listings, and finds approved alternatives when the original part number is gone.
We search OEM channels, teardown lots, distributor inventories and operator stock across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific for obsolete helicopter parts, legacy business jet parts and discontinued avionics. Before presenting an option, we check its condition and traceability.
If the original part number is no longer available, we investigate supersessions and approved alternatives. And if we cannot find a viable route to the part, we tell you what we checked and what we found.
Why aircraft parts become hard to find
Most out of production aircraft parts get scarce for the same few reasons:
- The OEM stops making the part or the aircraft, and the remaining stock runs down.
- The part is superseded by a new part number, and older units stop being listed under the old one.
- OEM supply chain delays put the part on backorder for months.
- Small fleets mean few distributors keep the part in stock, so the units left are spread across operators, MROs and teardown lots.
That is why the answer is often outside normal listings: in a teardown lot, in an operator's stockroom, or a unit that needs repairs and overhauls before it can fly again.
Who it is for
Anyone keeping an older helicopter or business jet flying — superseded part numbers, discontinued OEM lines, one-off rotables — and anyone who has already called everyone else.
What you get
A realistic timeline in days or weeks instead of an open-ended 'we're looking'. Alternatives where the exact P/N is gone. And a straight no when there is no route to the part.

If we have been looking for more than a week, we will tell you where we are rather than waiting until we have news.
Questions about hard-to-find aircraft parts
Look for a supplier that searches beyond its own shelves, checks traceability, and gives you a timeline. Vento Aviation sources hard-to-find parts for business jets and helicopters through OEM channels, teardown lots, other distributors and operator stock across three regions.
Suppliers that hold legacy stock and buy surplus from operators and MROs are the best bet for older helicopters. Vento Aviation buys helicopter surplus from operators and MROs, including legacy types such as the Huey and Black Hawk, so some older parts are already on our shelves before we search outside.
Yes. Send the part number, or describe the unit and the aircraft if the number is superseded. We check for approved alternates when the exact part is no longer made.
Send us the part number and your deadline. We check our own parts in stock first, then other distributors, operator stock and approved alternates, and tell you whether we can get it to you sooner than the OEM can.
Days to weeks, and we will give you a realistic figure rather than an open-ended 'we're looking'. If we have been looking for more than a week, we will tell you where we are rather than waiting until we have news.
Describe the part, the aircraft and what it does. That is enough to start when the number is superseded or unreadable.
We will say so, and tell you what we checked. Where the exact P/N no longer exists we will tell you about supersessions and approved alternates first.
